Our adopted charities for the Spring 2022 #TheEdCollabGathering will be Plan International
Because #TheEdCollabGathering is a day of free learning, we invite you to donate what you would have spent on coffee, lunch, or even registration for an amazing day like this—pay forward to support others.
Plan International was chosen by our Opening Keynote, LeUyen Pham.
About Plan International from their website:
“Plan International USA is a girls’ rights organization. We aim to be girl-centered, girl-driven and girl-led in all our work to boldly create a more just and equitable world.
Around the world, girls’ voices are being silenced. Girls are being forced to marry men twice their age. They’re dying during childbirth after unwanted pregnancies. They’re being denied an education while watching their brothers go to school.
With you, Plan is here to put an end to gender inequality. Because enough is enough.”
LeUyen says: “I am a refugee myself, and have a deep appreciation and understanding of how these organizations can assist those demographics of the world that are often the most overlooked and most vulnerable. Especially now, with the recent withdrawal from Afghanistan of US troops, and the war of attrition currently happening in Ukraine, this group is critically needed all the more.”
Hope In A Box was also chosen by our Closing keynote panel.
“We are the nation’s largest early-intervention program for building LGBTQ-inclusive classrooms and maintain the most extensive library of LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum in the United States. Hope in a Box serves 70,000+ students across all 50 states .”
Panelists says: “Hope In A Box presents direct action and support to classroom communities, providing engaging and authentic LGBTQ+ books to classrooms to reach readers—those seeking to be affirmed, those open to learning about the lives of others, and those who just love great books!”
Panelists says: “We Need Diverse Books has long-standing work on all sides of publishing: promoting and distributing books, supporting authors, mentoring early career writers, and facilitating pipelines of talent in the behind-the-scenes publishing world. They live their mission and invest strongly in creating a more inclusive world of books.”
The Educator Collaborative is proud to adopt these charities during our event and hope you will consider donating to their important causes.
