Jillian Heise, NBCT, is the National Literacy Consultant for Custom Education Solutions. She taught 7th & 8th grade language arts in the Milwaukee area for eleven years before leaving the classroom to broaden her impact through working with teachers. She now consults with educators in selecting just the right books for their curriculum and classrooms, provides professional development to support districts’ literacy initiatives, and presents at conferences. Jillian started #classroombookaday, inspired by Donalyn Miller’s #bookaday, reading aloud a picture book every day of the school year with her students.  She also brings her passion for books and literacy expertise to her role as Chair of the WSRA Children’s Literature Committee. Angie Huesgen the Instructional Specialist of a K-5 elementary school in St. Louis, MO. She brings expertise in literacy instruction, reading intervention and curriculum development and draws on 20 years experience in Title 1 elementary schools, serving as a classroom teacher, special education teacher and Reading Specialist. Her innovative literacy leadership and unwavering advocacy for daily independent reading has had a profound effect on the teachers and students she serves. She can usually be found between the pages of a book or on Twitter connecting with other literacy-loving folks at @ajhueySTL.

Cale Atkinson is an author, illustrator, and animator currently residing in Kelowna, Canada. Believing in tea over sleep, Cale is constantly working on numerous projects. His work can be found in animated shorts, television, games and children’s books including To the Sea, Explorers of the Wild, and Maxwell the Monkey Barber.
