Pay The Joy Forward™️ to support others!
Because the Gathering is a day of free learning, we invite you to donate what you would have spent on coffee, lunch, or even registration for an amazing day like this.
For the Spring 2025 Gathering we focus on two charities that work to protect children and teens at a time when federal budget cuts are threatening safety and security.

It is important to acknowledge that the reason for these cuts is largely due to the current administration seeking to extend the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” set to expire on December 31, 2025. The TCJA grants the wealthiest Americans unprecedented tax cuts by transferring our federal tax dollars away from government services (such as National Parks, K-12 Education Funding, Social Security, Medicaid, Veterans Services, and far more) and toward expanding the wealth of the highest earners. Based on separate analyses by the Tax Policy Center and the Wharton School of Business, those earning more than $450,000 would see 45% of the tax benefits. The top 10% of all earners would see 56% of the value. Middle and lower income individuals will have more modest changes, however those are counterbalanced by seeing services and benefits reduced or eliminated.
The Trevor Project was selected by The Educator Collaborative.
The Trevor Project
Helping LGBTQ+ teens in crisis: U.S. Health and Human Services is planning to eliminate the “988” national suicide and crisis hotline which in February received 2,100 contacts per day. The Trevor Project can help fill this gap, but they cannot do it alone. In addition to donating, please advocate for 988 to remain funded and open.

About The Trevor Project from their website:
“The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. We provide information & support to LGBTQ+ young people 24/7, all year round.
“Our vision is to create a world where all LGBTQ+ young people see a bright future for themselves.
“The Trevor Project is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.”
KIND was selected by our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Carla España.
KIND: Kids In Need of Defense
Helping migrant youth: The federal government has terminated a 15 year funding program to provide vital legal services for unaccompanied minors within in the immigration system. Without legal services, children can be made to appear in court alone and represent themselves throughout this country’s complex system. KIND relied greatly on this funding but is shifting as best they can to continue this vital, humanitarian, work for children. In addition to donating, please advocate for the restoration of this federal funding.

About KIND: Kids In Need of Defense, from their website:
“Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is the preeminent international nongovernmental organization devoted to the protection of unaccompanied and separated children. KIND envisions a world in which every unaccompanied child on the move has access to legal representation and has their rights and well-being protected as they migrate alone in search of safety.
“We envision a world in which children’s rights and well-being are protected as they migrate alone in search of safety.
“Kids in Need of Defense is a U.S. tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization.”
