Raúl The Third is a New York Times bestselling and three-time Pura Belpre award-winning illustrator, author, and artist living in Boston. Vamos! Let’s Cross the Bridge was awarded one of the year’s Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2021 from the New York Times and the New York Public Library and the Pura Belpré Award for Illustration. He is currently adapting his World of Vamos! books into an animated television series with Silvergate Media and Mercury Filmworks. His work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
His other works include the Lowriders series—Pura Belpré Award for Illustration (winner), Texas BlueBonnet award (nominated), the El Toro & Friends series—Bank Street Best Book of the Year , the Coco Rocho board book series with Elaine Bay—Good Housekeeping Best Kids’ Book, Strollercoaster with Matthew Ringler and Elaine Bay—Chicago Public Library Best Book of the Year, and Stuntboy series with Jason Reynolds—Bank Street Best Book of the Year, ALA’s Schneider Family Award Honor Book.
