Amy continues to be passionate about teaching and learning after more than 30 years in the West Orange School District in NJ! She currently teaches 5th grade ELA. Amy received her teaching degree from Muhlenberg College and her masters degree from Walden University. Last year, she received the Governor’s Teacher of the Year award in her district. Amy is an advocate for diversifying classroom libraries so that all students can find themselves in books. She recently co-wrote a curriculum that focuses on social justice and fostering empathy through diverse texts. She strives to cultivate a love of reading in all her students. Amy also has a passion for mentoring student teachers. She loves to share her philosophies and enthusiasm with future educators! She recently wrote an article, Virtual Learning: Survive or Thrive?, with her student teacher from Drew University. Amy is excited to continue her journey in education with members of The Educator Collaborative this cohort!
When she is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, and spending time on their boat in Lake Hopatcong.
Keri currently teaches fifth-grade social studies and science in New Jersey. She has been an educator for 24 years, entering the profession as an Alternate Route Teacher. Follow her on Twitter @Drkcorange
